This week’s entry by Mary Walsh is a simple but timely poem. Submitted to Pen to Print for consideration several weeks ago, the original purpose was the paint a picture with words of the beauty of a Mediterranean coastal view, specifically in Spain. But given how the world has changed in the last weeks and months, and considering how many of us around the UK and the rest of the globe are currently experiencing isolation and quarantine, Mary’s short work has inherited new meaning. While it continues to use as few words as possible to invoke imagery of a cloudless night sky and a shimmering morning, we are transported to a place of beauty and warmth like never before. At a time when few friends and family are able to take a holiday, this is a delightful postcard for us all to receive!
Keep on writing!

When the stars tire of the plush night skies
As dawn breaks they fall into
The cool azure blue of the Mediterranean
And sparkle in the waters.
