[ultimate_spacer height=”15″]Last year, Dagenham Children’s Library underwent a major transformation. New shelving, new cosy colours and new spaces to sit and immerse yourself in a story were installed. But given certain circumstances, the opportunity to reveal this renovation was missed.
But now, mark your calendars — Wednesday 13 April 2022, from 11am-3pm, Dagenham Children’s Library will be relaunched!
A day full of wonder has been planned for the children: join in on interactive crafts workshops, meet children’s authors, sit down and listen to some riveting storytelling.[ultimate_spacer height=”25″]We will have children’s author and illustrator, Ryan Morrissey, in attendance, signing and reading copies of his books to the kids. Ryan Morrissey is full time teacher who has a passion for teaching writing. He enjoys writing stories with children and then bringing these stories to life in books Bert’s Little Secret, A Kitten In My Closet and Cameron, You’re A Big Mouse Now. As a teacher, many of his stories come with layers of meaning that can be used to talk to children about a variety of subjects.[ultimate_spacer height=”4″][vc_single_image image=”42819″ img_size=”650 x 700″ css_animation=”slideInLeft”][vc_single_image image=”42822″ img_size=”650 x 700″ css_animation=”slideInRight”][ultimate_spacer height=”5″]Children’s author and illustrator, Mike Kilbey, will also be in attendance signing and reading from his children’s book Silly Billy Swim Trunks: The Adventures of Dudley Clump (and best friend Charlie Robinson). Mike Kilbey is one of our published Book Challengers, and one of the only challengers who published a children’s book. Silly Billy Swim Trunks is a charmingly adventurous book that follows a nine year old, Charlie Robinson, and his best friend, a spider named ‘Dudley’ who lost a leg playing rugby. All books will be available to purchase on the day at a discounted rate.
Silly Billy Swim Trunks: The Adventure of Dudley Clump (and best friend Charlie Robinson) by Mike Kilbey is will be on sale for £5.
Ryan Morrissey’s books will also be on sale for £5 each, or two for £8!
A number of free activities have also been planned: Your child can join in on an interactive story workshop where they can write a short tale on a chain of leaves that will be displayed in the Children’s Library. There will be storytelling and more.
You can find a detailed programme of the day here.
